In Norway, a law obliges operators who install charging stations subject to public funding to make them available to everyone.
Elon Musk, boss of Tesla, has never hidden the possibility of opening up the charging stations of his brand, the famous Superchargers, to competition. Currently, Teslas can be plugged in everywhere, but other cars cannot be plugged into these Superchargers exclusive to the Californian manufacturer's cars.
A scenario that is changing since in the district of Vestland, in Norway, Tesla is obliged to open certain Superchargers to other cars. The reason is simple: the installation of these charging stations required public funding.
A situation similar to what can be found in certain corners of Sweden, in which public aid is subject to the condition of opening the terminals to all rechargeable cars, regardless of the brand. Restricting partly publicly funded terminals to one brand would violate transport laws in Sweden and Norway.
In Norway, these new Tesla terminals (obviously only a few units, for the moment) will thus be accessible to all from the third quarter of 2022. On the other hand, the question still arises of the opening of the entire European network of Superchargers, highly envied by most other brands, despite the emergence of competition (Ionity).
