According to 9TO5mac, Apple would be working on a new high -end external screen, probably intended to replace (or complete) the Pro Display XDR, its 6K screen sold from 5499 euros. The information is in itself interesting, but it becomes even more when you know that this screen could take on an A13 SOC, like those found in the iPhone 11.
responding to the code name J327 , this screen being developed could take advantage of the power of the Apple Silicon chip to accelerate the calculations linked to machine learning tasks, thanks to the neural engine, but also bring the power of its graphic part.
It also echoes an "old" rumor who wanted Tim Cook teams to develop an external screen with a GPU.
This approach, which would not have Meaning that in a completely integrated environment, with Apple products from start to finish, could make it possible to display very high definition graphics, without having to solicit the on -board processor in the Mac. Apple would therefore consider reinterpreting the EGPU, in its own way.
The fact that the chosen chip is powerful would also make it possible to envisage advanced functions on the screen. One can imagine an Airplay support, of course, but also other uses, inspired by those offered by the iPad, if as long as a real dedicated bone is integrated. This could position this monitor as a lightened competitor of the iMac. Could it be relevant? Useful ? The future will tell us.
all of this is for the time of supputation. As 9to5mac specifies, Apple could change its plans and not get this screen, or abandon some of its functions. No date is currently scheduled for the launch of this product. The Pro Display XDR was launched in 2019.
