During Hyundai's "N Day", the brand spoke about the future arrival of electric models within the sports branch. They can be battery-powered, hydrogen-powered... or both.
This is not the first time that the electric fairy has been mentioned at Hyundai N. Two years ago, Albert Biermann, the head of the sports division of Hyundai, explained that hydrogen was a possibility, in increasing: "apart from Hyundai, who could design a hydrogen sports car?"
Today, at the time of the presentation of the Kona N and the "N" day, the Korean brand has made some clarifications. Unsurprisingly given the strong electric trend, the marketing manager explained that future Hyundai N cars would be electric.
Electric, yes, but different solutions are available to Hyundai, which has built up experience in this area. The manufacturer has specified that the electric ones could be battery-powered, hydrogen-powered or both. Clearly, to offer both configurations to customers, for the sake of variety for a brand that likes to decline its cars.
Hyundai uses its "rolling laboratory", the RM20e, to test its future technologies.
In the meantime, Hyundai N must meet current needs. The Kona N is a sporty new offering that may well be followed by another. The manufacturer could indeed market the Elantra N in Europe. A three-volume sedan normally reserved for the American market.
