In its annual review, BMW announces that the brand will present an "electrically powered" M model for the first time in its history. It could be the famous X8 M hybrid.
BMW confirms a rumor launched at the end of last year by the BMWBlog: the M division will indeed launch its first electrified car in 2021. It may not be an electric one, but rather a plug-in hybrid, engine never used by a BMW M until now. term.
Our colleagues announce an X8 M (responding to the code name G99) which will have a specificity: it will not be based on any existing BMW model and will be the first M car for a long time. A large plug-in hybrid SUV that should exceed 700 hp, while BMW continues to ignore an M model in the "7" range (Series 7, X7). That would then make it the most powerful BMW M in history...again. A classic thermal X8 M would be offered in the catalog alongside this completely new plug-in hybrid X8 M.
The all-electric BMW M seems more distant. The manufacturer would have a good base with the new i4, which will be launched this year, but this would probably duplicate the new M4, also launched in 2021...
