Small refresh for the X4, cut version of the X3. On the menu: new grille, enlarged screens, generalization of micro-hybridization.
If the X4 G02 arrived a few months after the X3 G01, the facelift of both is done at the same time. Here is the restyled X4 with, logically, similar developments. They are limited to a few elements, but it is noticeable.
The front face gains in aggressiveness with finer optics (full LED as standard) and an enlarged grille. The beans, with a more angular appearance and now linked, keep an almost reasonable size compared to other BMW productions, in particular the 4 Series. On the other hand, the new designs of the shields are in the choppy lines! The restyling is accompanied by new rims and new colors, including the red "Piemont", reserved for the X4.
Inside, the presentation is more technological. The X4 finally adopts digital instrumentation. The central screen is also enlarged, measuring up to 12.3 inches. The organization of the central console has been revised, with air conditioning controls now associated with the air vents, which are visually thinner.
New features include automatic reverse. If you are stuck in a dead end, the vehicle comes out of it on its own. There is also the "BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant", an artificial intelligence with advanced voice control, which learns the habits of the driver to offer him personalized settings or guidance. The "Drive Recorder" makes it possible to record videos around the vehicle.
Under the hood, there is a generalization of 48V micro-hybridization. The 30i version loses a few horsepower in the operation, going from 252 to 245 hp. The 20d and 30d diesels remain at 190 hp and 286 hp. The M40i and M40d variants, with six cylinders in line, also remain at 360 and 340 hp. On the X4, xDrive all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox are standard. The model still does not have the right to the rechargeable hybrid.
At the top of the offering, the "real" M Competition variant retains its 510bhp straight-six. The maximum torque is on the other hand increased from 600 to 650 Nm, which makes it possible to gain 3 tenths on the 0 to 100 km/h, achieved in 3.8 seconds.
