The ecological transition does not only have consequences for manufacturers. The boss of Bosch, in place since 2012, will leave his post while the company must carry out a small internal revolution.
It's an industry juggernaut that gets little mention, but employs more people than most automakers. The first automotive supplier in the world, Bosch, is about to begin its revolution. Volkmar Denner, the CEO of Bosch, in place since 2012, will leave his post and leave the management to Stefan Hartung, who is already, at Bosch, the boss of the automotive activities. According to Bosch, it is a "generational handover prepared for a long time".
The company, which operates in various sectors (household appliances, tools, automobiles, etc.), must absolutely make the electric shift: the automobile represents 71.5 billion euros in turnover for Bosch.
Denner was only the 7th boss of Bosch since the company was founded in 1886. An absolutely unprecedented fact in the industry, but the German will still have been there during the dieselgate, which strongly affected Bosch, supplier of parts for combustion engines, and in particular diesel engines. Since then, Bosch has begun its transformation, announcing in particular a semiconductor factory and development work on hydrogen, but... no battery cell factory for electric cars: according to Denner, the accumulated delay on the Asians was too big and would have required a gigantic and unjustified investment.
