In recent times, some manufacturers have chosen very complex nomenclatures to decline each version of a model.A study shows, however, that the public more easily retains names than figures.
This seems to be obvious, but not necessarily for all brands: the public more easily retains names than figures. And that's valid in cars, where we find everything.A small recent British study shows that in all categories of cars, each time, it is the name that prevails over the figure. The Vanarama leasing comparator site was inspired by Cadillac's announcement to replace all the encrypted appellations (CT6, XT5...) by real names for this study which is final.
On average, a car with a real name has almost twice as much chance of being retained in memory by a customer than a vehicle that has figures. This is particularly the case with models like the Mazda 3, but also Peugeot 208, Citroën C3 and C1 or BMW X3 and Volvo XC90.
Conversely, cars like the Ford Focus, the Range Rover Evoque, the Volkswagen Golf or the Nissan Juke are easier to remember by the public, which assimilates them in the long term. And that does not touch that everyone's car.The Ferrari who have names are also more rooted in memories: Enzo and Laferrai will be better retained than 812 and 488.
