Continental announces that it has received a large order from a major car manufacturer for a large panoramic screen running the length of the dashboard. Because the passenger, too, is entitled to his pixels.
There is no longer any question of the digital display being exclusive to the driver, who has 100% digital instrumentation and infotainment in front of them. The passenger, too, must have something to entertain himself. This is how we have recently seen a proliferation of panoramic displays stretching up to the right upright. Ford, in particular, did it recently on the Evos, the new generation of Mondeo transformed. Honda, too, has adopted this presentation with a different configuration, since the dashboard is made up of several screens in a row.
Continental, one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world, announces that it has received a very large order for a panoramic screen occupying the entire width of the dashboard, between the two pillars. The German giant does not communicate the customer, but it is a major car manufacturer. Full-scale production is scheduled for 2024, indicating that it will be a future model that has not yet been presented.
In its press release, Continental sums up the modern automobile in one sentence: "in summary, what used to be horses are now screens and user experiences".
