The ecological bonus must be revised downwards on July 1. But, while the market is still slow, the CNPA requests a postponement.
On July 1, the scales of the ecological bonus will be revised downwards. A review which was originally scheduled to take place on January 1, 2021, but it had been postponed by six months. In question: the health context, which caused sales to plunge in 2020 (- 25%).
In 2021, the market continues to be weighed down by Covid. From January to April, sales fell by 25% compared to the level of 2019, the year before the crisis. Activity in concessions was again slowed by the curfew and confinement in April. Added to this are now production disruptions due to the shortage of semiconductors.
For the CNPA (National Council of Automotive Professions), the drop in bonuses is therefore still bad. While an interministerial meeting on the subject is to take place on May 7, he asks the government to extend the current aid until the end of the year. As a reminder, the maximum bonus on an electric car must go from €7,000 to €6,000, while that on plug-in hybrids must be halved, from €2,000 to €1,000.
The CNPA also wants the scrapping bonus not to be reduced. As of July 1, all diesels will be excluded from the system. He would even like the establishment of a reinforced bonus as was the case in June 2020 after the first confinement.
Will the government make a move? Barely ten days ago, the Ministry of the Economy told us that there was no question of postponing the introduction of the new scales.
