The construction permit for the giant Tesla factory in Germany, its first in Europe, has still not been granted despite the start of construction. In a letter addressed to the German authorities, the American brand is annoyed by the slowness of the administration.
For the time being, Tesla remains undisturbed and maintains an opening of its first European Gigaffactory in the summer of 2021. But many obstacles stand in the way of Elon Musk and his company. Water, first of all, and the environmental constraints, but also the administrative problems, denounced by Tesla in a long letter to the German authorities, in which the manufacturer denounced the administrative slowness.
"the German approval framework for industrial and infrastructure projects as well as for spatial planning is in direct contrast to the urgency of planning and implementing such projects, which is necessary to combat climate change," Tesla said.
It has to be said that Tesla is building its plant with an exceptional procedure: no definitive permit has been granted, allowing Tesla to start construction quickly. But here's the thing: if the permit is never granted, Tesla will have to raise the camp at his own expense.
"the result (of this situation) is that the approval process for a green project is always equivalent to the approval of a coal-fired plant construction. The process takes too long, and it is very complicated to make changes, even when they are positive. The project faces many legal risks. It discourages investments in clean energy, and it virtually prevents Germany from achieving its environmental objectives."
Tesla is based here on the fact that the American manufacturer, through its factory (which will be one of the largest in Germany in terms of automobiles), could greatly help the country to pass the second in terms of electromobility, but also the storage of energy by batteries, which will be assembled on site.
