Fiat will modernize its Tychy Polish factory, which will assemble electric and hybrid vehicles from 2022.
The FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) group has confirmed investments for its Tychy, Poland factory, in order to produce hybrid and electric vehicles there. The first electrified models will leave the assembly chains in the second half of 2022.
According to the Vice Polish Prime Minister, the investment will be two billion euros, to modernize and enlarge the site. For its part, the group already indicates that it is a question of vehicles of the Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep brands. But it does not give more details on the models.
Chances are new vehicles for segment B, starting with a Fiat city car derived from the Centoventi concept (photo), which would mark Fiat's big return to the Clio segment. For Jeep, it would necessarily be a small SUV.The other unknown is the technical basis that would be set up in Tychy.Has Fiat already planned to take over the E-CMP, the new platform for electric city cars from the PSA group?
The Tychy factory produced just over 260,000 vehicles in 2019.Currently, the site assembles the 500, with its Abarth derivative, but also the Lancia Ypsilon, which continues to sell well in Italy.
