Ford is recalling more than 660,000 Explorers, mainly on the American market, for a roof bar cover problem that could come off.
Ford has for some years now demonstrated its desire to globalize models normally reserved for North America. Mustang, Edge and Explorer, in particular, are offered in Europe. The Explorer news revolves around a recall.
Rather confidential in Europe with a high selling price and an XXL size, the Explorer is the subject of a recall made public in the United States by the road safety organization NHTSA, concerning the covers of roof rails which can break down at any time on the road.
Models produced between 2016 and 2019 (after restyling) with gray and black roof bar protectors are affected. The Explorer sold in Europe, produced in the United States, should not be affected since it is the generation that comes just after the one impacted by this defect.
Remember that, unlike the American model, sold with a four-cylinder 2.3 Ecoboost and a V6 3.0 Ecoboost biturbo, the European Explorer is exclusively marketed as a rechargeable hybrid.
