With the Power-Up service, Fords will benefit from updates after their purchase. The Mustang Mach-E is the first model to benefit from it in Europe.
The car you buy today will not quite be the one you sell in a few years. You are of course thinking of its wear! But here it is about his equipment. Thanks to remote updates (over-the-air, a new Anglicism ready to invade automotive marketing discourse), it could be richer.
The list of manufacturers who have embarked on these remote developments is growing today with Ford, which presented the "Power-Up" program. Unsurprisingly, it is the Mustang Mach-E, the first 100% electric model and new technological flagship of the firm with the blue oval, which inaugurates it.
The Mach-E thus benefits from a new electrical architecture and Ford's latest connected multimedia system, the fourth-generation SYNC. Ford can therefore remotely add features, improve the interface following customer feedback, fix bugs, etc. Most updates will be made invisible to the customer. For those that require a restart, the driver chooses his time, usually at night, which allows you to find an up-to-date vehicle when you wake up. The over-the-air will also avoid a few trips to the garage.
The small downside is that during the presentation of the Power-Up, Ford highlighted a tool that allows you to take notes or make drawings, a Paint spell (a function that fortunately activates when the vehicle is parked). A system that still seems gadget on the occasion of the launch of such a program.
