Hyundai is announcing today the two preferential rates on the Ionity ultra-fast terminal network.
Even if it was not part of the initial project, the Hyundai Motors group nevertheless joined the pack behind the European network of fast terminals Ionity at the end of last year. The. Korean giant, which recently unveiled the Ioniq 5, is today announcing the two preferential rates that electric customers who connect to these terminals will be able to benefit from, which, it should be remembered, can go up to 350 kW.
Two subscription formulas are thus offered to customers. The first, Ionity Lite, is available at €4.50/month. At this rate, owners of electric Hyundai will be entitled to a kWh billed at 52 cents in Europe. The second, called Ionity Premium, costs €13/month, but allows the price per kWh to fall to 29 euro cents.
Please note: in most countries where Ionity is established, it is billed per kWh. But in France, it will take 52 cents and 29 cents ... per minute, since Ionity cannot charge per kWh, the network not being registered as an energy supplier, but as a simple operator. This billing per minute has an advantage when it comes to high powers, since the price of a full charge will generally be lower on the basis of time rather than on the basis of a quantity of energy. A finding that is obviously reversed when the terminals are less powerful and the charging time lengthens. On the Ioniq 5, which accepts high powers, this should be beneficial. But on an electric Kona, the deal could be different.
Note also that Ioniq 5 customers will be entitled to one year of free subscription to Ionity Premium. In all cases, the commitment is for a minimum of one year, whether for the Lite or Premium subscription.
