Karma unveils its new GS-6 sedan, which has the particularity of carrying a large 28 kWh battery alongside the three-cylinder 1.5 turbo.
Karma, do you remember? This brand, which was initially Fisker and later took the name of one of its models, announces the arrival of the GS-6 sedan. A car which notably served as a test prototype for a fuel cell technology without hydrogen, but that is not the question today.
It is indeed the production GS-6 that we discover. Its lines inevitably recall those of the Fisker Karma, up to the driving position, very strongly inspired by that of the eldest. And the comparison does not stop there: the powertrain is based on the principle of a gasoline engine which acts as a range extender for a lithium battery.
The Fisker Karma was entitled to a 2.0 turbo four-cylinder, but here it is a 1.5 turbo three-cylinder associated with two electric motors placed on the rear axle. Three driving modes are on the program: pure electric, "Sustain" (the combustion engine runs to power the batteries and the electric motors) and Sport, where the electric motors receive energy both from the batteries and from the combustion engine. .
In Sport mode, the combined power is announced at 543 hp and the torque at 745 Nm. The 28 kWh battery allows you to cover just under 130 km in electric mode. The marketing of this GS-6 (and the GS-6S variant, which will be entitled to Torque Vectoring) will take place in the coming months in Europe at prices for the time being unknown, but certainly close to 90,000 €.
