The Volkswagen group has announced the construction of 6 factories in Europe to produce batteries. This generates a form of internal lobbying, especially for Skoda who intends to have one of the 6 factories on his soil.
Four years ago, already, at Volkswagen, we were pointing to the ideal culprit of the decline in sales dynamics in Europe: Skoda.More profitable than Audi, Skoda offers vehicles that have (almost) all the technology of a Volkswagen.Motors, boxes, rolling trains, infotainment, platform, only design really differentiates them.A situation which was relevant, was a time, but which now brings internal competition.
Proof of the good form of Skoda and its desire to take more and more scope: the manufacturer wants a battery plant in the Czech Republic. The Czech Minister of Industry is currently negotiating with the Volkswagen group for one of the six battery factories in Europe that the German giant will have on Czech soil.
The Czech Republic has several arguments. The first is obviously to have a manufacturer who performs in Europe and which has a series of upcoming electric vehicles. The second is even more important: the Czech Energy Specialist, CEZ, with other car investors, intends to exploit a Cinovec region to extract lithium.Volkswagen could thus associate with the project, as he did with Northvolt in Sweden.
Skoda, who presented his results, announced that it would take "at least one" battery factory on its soil. For the time being, only 2 of the 6 factories of the Volkswagen group are confirmed: one in Sweden with the partner Northvolt, and one in Germany.
