The sports branch of Mitsubishi, Ralliart, will be reborn from its ashes. The manufacturer has even confirmed that it intends to return to competition.
In the early 1980s, English driver Andrew Cowan launched a competition-dedicated entity for Mitsubishi in Europe. An entity which quickly became "Ralliart", and which distinguished itself many times, notably with Tommi Mäkinen at the wheel of the Lancer Evolution.
In 2010, with the gradual withdrawal of competition, Mitsubishi stopped Ralliart, which would only be used for the sale of personalization spare parts on certain models, particularly in Japan. Suffice to say that the Ralliart spirit has completely disappeared for 11 years.
But he will live again. Mitsubishi, which unveiled its financial results with slight losses and an avowed optimism for the next fiscal years, confirms the revival of Ralliart and the entry into competition.
Obviously, don't expect too much to see a Lancer Evolution in rally. The eighth generation of Lancer is no more than a shadow of itself, being a model intended mainly for China and without much flavor. The designated candidate in image would be the L200 pick-up: we would then be very far from the context of the WRC.
