The Chinese manufacturer Nio confirms its establishment in Europe. It will start by marketing the ES8 SUV in Norway, before expanding the launch to other markets.
Chinese arrivals are linked in Europe. After Aiways or Lynk&Co, the Nio brand confirms its establishment on European soil. Much like its Asian rivals, initially it will be done quietly. In this case with a single model, the ES8 SUV, and only in Norway.
A single point of sale (initially) in Oslo and online sales will be the spearhead of Nio. The Chinese manufacturer then plans to expand to other European countries. Obviously, the choice of Norway is not insignificant: it is the first market in Europe in terms of market share for the electric car.
The ES8 is clearly not a product suitable for all budgets. This imposing SUV with seven seats and 650 hp, four-wheel drive, has 500 km of autonomy and all the on-board technology that one can imagine today. It will be followed by a top-of-the-range sedan, the ES7, which will be able to reach the 1000 km of autonomy in the certification cycle, with more than 650 hp distributed to the four wheels.
Nio does not stop there in terms of premium offer since a handful of battery exchange stations will see the light of day in Norway. Concretely, in 3 minutes, customers will be able to "refuel" with an automated battery change system. At the same time, Nio plans to create its own network of ultra-fast charging stations. Does this remind you of anything?
