We would have forgotten it, but Nissan did not shine in “offroad” competition only with the Patrol. The 240Z also shone 50 years ago in an African rally raid. For his birthday, Nissan designed a tribute Juke.
Kenya is making its big comeback to the WRC calendar after 19 years of absence, and it is precisely the date that Nissan has chosen to unveil a rather special Juke paying homage to a glory of the past, which has been illustrated, she too, in an African rally. We are talking about the 240Z entered in 1971 in the East African rally.
The 240Z of the African RallyNissan also announces that the lines of the Gripz concept (which gave rise to the new Juke) are inspired by this strongly raised 240Z and adapted to difficult conditions. At the time, the car was entitled to the six-cylinder in-line Nissan 2.4 naturally aspirated 210 hp. Let's admit all the same that the new 400Z is much closer to this 240Z than the second Juke.
It is in any case the new Juke which is responsible for paying tribute to this 240Z with a “Rally Tribute” concept. Nissan gives almost no details on this Juke except that it adopts a "hybrid electric" powertrain. What some of the customers in Europe are probably waiting for, who currently only have the 1.0 117 hp three-cylinder to put in their mouths.
