Audi has specified the dates of its conversion to all-electric. The end of thermal power in Europe is scheduled for 2033.
After the information that circulated a few days ago, the confirmation. Audi will accelerate its transition to 100% electric. From 2026, the manufacturer with the rings will launch on the world market only models that run solely on electricity.
From 2026, the Audi novelties will therefore only be e-trons. To date, the manufacturer offers the e-tron and Q4 e-tron SUVs (available in Sportback) and the flagship e-tron GT. In 2022, it will unveil the Q6 e-tron and then the A6 e-tron.
The brand will therefore launch the production of its latest novelty with a heat engine in just four years. But the thermal will then remain in the catalog for a few more years. The manufacturer thus indicates that it will gradually abandon the production of thermal engines until 2033.
Audi, however, is muddying the waters itself. Markus Duesmann, boss of Audi, thus recalled that the exact stop of the thermal will be decided by the customers and the legislation. Audi thus expects that there will remain a demand for thermal in China after 2033, a demand on which it does not want to give up. He therefore admits that there "could be a supply of vehicles in Asia with combustion engines manufactured locally" after 2033! Audi will therefore be 100% electric on this date everywhere except in China.
Moreover, aware that there is at least a good decade to thermal, Audi recalls that it will continue to invest to improve the existing blocks. Markus Duesmann said: "Audi's latest combustion engine will be the best we have ever built".
