A new variant of the Cayenne broke the Nürburgring record in the SUV category.
Porsche is about to unveil a powerful new Cayenne, announced with more than 600 hp. But the brand is already formalizing the time of the vehicle on the Nürburgring. And for good reason, the machine broke the SUV category record, previously held by the Audi RS Q8.
This new Cayenne lapped the famous German circuit, with a distance of 20.832 kilometers, in 7 minutes 38 seconds 925. Compared to the cousin on the rings, this is a time improvement of more than three seconds. The record was set on June 14, with spring weather (23°C in the air, 46°C on the track).
The vehicle has just been adapted for the safety of the pilot, with a competition seat and a roll bar. At the wheel was Lars Kern, test driver who participated in the development of this Cayenne, based on the Coupé Turbo version. The model has 22-inch rims shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires specially developed for it, but which will fit well on the production model.
If this Cayenne is an SUV with demonic performance, we can clearly see the difference with vehicles more cut out for this exercise! The new 911 GT3, less powerful with 510 hp, fell below the 7-minute mark.
