The new thermal Macan will be ready by the end of 2021. The electric model will be marketed in 2023.
Be careful, a new Macan can hide another one. As early as 2019, Porsche announced the launch of an unprecedented 100% electric Macan. But the thermal will not be abandoned. The manufacturer has just confirmed that the gasoline engine version will remain in the catalog and will be renewed by the end of 2021.
We can expect a big restyling, which will make it possible to hold the model at a lower cost, while the brand is investing heavily in the development of the electric variant. This will indeed have a new platform dedicated to electricity, the PPE.
Porsche recalls that while sales of electric cars have taken off in Europe, thermal continues to represent a large majority of international deliveries. He could not therefore do without a thermal Macan too quickly, especially since the model also represents a large share of the firm's total sales. The revival of the thermal version should be accompanied by the arrival of a rechargeable hybrid engine.
Enough to ensure the transition to all-electric. And Porsche will therefore be ready with a new trendy Macan. The manufacturer announces that this Macan will be marketed in 2023. The prototypes have just started testing on open roads. The brand itself has published images of the vehicles, which are still well camouflaged. But we guess the main lines, with for example the shape of the optics. These will be thinner, so some of the lighting will be placed below in the shield. We also see that the general silhouette will be inspired by that of coupe SUVs, with a very inclined bezel.
Between now and marketing, the prototypes will cover more than three million kilometres, in all possible climatic conditions, on all surfaces. With at the end of the process, according to Porsche, "the sportiest model in its segment".
