The Shanghai show will be one of the only major car shows in the world this year. Lexus plans to unveil the restyling of its es sedan, marketed in France only with the four hybrid cylinders.
What might have been considered a simple name change in Lexus was not actually a name change. The es sedan has been on offer for three years, but if it "replaces" the GS in France, it was actually a new model. A small revolution as this imposing car, just under five meters long, moves from propulsion (GS) to traction.
Less than three years after its launch in France, the GS will receive a restyling at the other end of the world, where life has returned to its almost normal course. Indeed, the Shanghai trade fair will be held next week in China. Many of the new products, both Asian and European, will be unveiled in an event that is well and truly open to the public.
As far as France is concerned, it is not to be expected that there will be any major changes. The only hybrid engine, consisting of a four-cylinder gasoline engine, will certainly be renewed. The only developments will be multimedia, aesthetic details and some new features in the equipment list.
Let us recall that the Lexus es operates in a very competitive and small market in Europe and France, particularly in relation to the Germans. At its launch, Lexus planned to sell 500 units a year in France.
