Points Recovery Internships: A Vast Shenanigans Update

For barely more than a real course, thousands of motorists have been able to fraudulently recover points on their license.

With 12.7 million points removed on the roads of France in 2019 (last score available), i.e. nearly 35,000 every day, road safety awareness courses, which allow you to recover four license points after two days at be infused with the good word, there is no shortage of candidates.

And like any juicy activity, this one ends up giving ideas to the margoulins. This week, Le Canard Enchaîné tells us that the four unions representing the 3,000 animators recently alerted their members by mail to a scam which “has enabled thousands and thousands of drivers, for more than 5 years, to recover 4 points on their driving license without taking a course and, for some, several times. »

These services, invoiced at 350 €, ie 100 to 130 € more than the legal internships, made it possible to recover points without it being necessary to attend any session whatsoever. The leader of the center was content to send false certificates to the prefecture, after having forged the signatures of the road safety expert and the psychologist supposed to provide the training. The weekly thus cites the example of an establishment in the Val de Marne which, in three years, would have validated 2,900 false internships!

In fact, the crooks take advantage of the weaknesses of a system devoid or almost of any capacity for control: "for lack of a central file, a facilitator can be declared present the same day in two different places without anyone ticking", explains a trainer contacted by Le Canard.

And if the prefectural inspections did lead to the withdrawal of 71 approvals last year on the territory, this remains clearly too low to worry fraudsters. Finally, we still do not know the consequences of the case on the license of motorists who participated in the scheming. This time, there is little chance that they will pass under the radar.
