The American Tesla is the highest-ranked automaker in the latest Top 100 of the most powerful brands in the world.
The Tesla Model S Plaid, with a peak power of 1,020 hp, is able to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.1 s.Each year, the research company Kantar establishes its Top 100 of the most powerful brands in the world, which is calculated by taking into account both market capitalization and the way brands drive their growth. The combined value of these 100 brands exceeds $7 trillion
In a ranking dominated by Amazon, a brand valued by Kantar at 683 billion dollars, followed by Apple (611 billion) and Google (457 billion), there are of course several car manufacturers.
Unsurprisingly, the first of them, and 47th overall, is the American Tesla, whose “Kantar” value stands at 42.6 billion dollars, a value up by…275% compared to 2019. This increase is the second strongest in the history of this ranking.
Tesla's valuation is based on the enthusiasm that the company arouses among investors, on the interest shown by consumers, on rising volumes (nearly 500,000 cars sold last year in the delicate context that the we know) and on a profitable breakthrough in China. Tesla also takes full advantage of its intermediate status between car manufacturer and high-tech champion, with cars that perfectly illustrate the concept of a rolling smartphone.
According to Kantar, Tesla is materializing the paradigm shift that is taking place in the luxury-premium sector: "in addition to high driving performance and exquisite finishes, luxury now encompasses advances in software, durability and of customer service. »
On this last point, we think in particular of autonomous driving technologies or remote updates that make it possible to improve cars throughout their life. It is also in the field of software that manufacturers will draw enormous growth levers in the years to come.
Behind Tesla, there are still some traditional manufacturers in this Top 100. These include Toyota (64th overall with 26.9 billion valuation), Mercedes-Benz (67th at 25.8 billion) and BMW (71st at 24 .8 billion).
Unfortunately, no French manufacturer, even if Renault is cited in the Kantar report for the excellent price/performance ratio of its Zoé as well as for its process of transforming the Flins plant into a "Re-factory" specializing in the circular economy. .
