The federal government of Brandenburg is said to have granted public aid of around one billion euros to Tesla for the construction of the German factory.
According to Business Insider, Tesla could be smiling. The federal government of Brandenburg would fund the German Tesla project to the tune of one billion euros, within the framework of the IPCEI project (Important project of common european interest), which aims to help large European companies in the field of batteries and electromobility.
Last week, Germany announced the 11 big winners who will benefit from the 3.2 billion euro fund. And among them: Tesla, who alone would benefit from a third of this sum, which will be provisioned by the Land of Brandenburg.
At first sight, this is a real disappointment for the Germans who are going to finance, with public money, an American manufacturer. And this, while the initial project normally aims to support Europe, especially against Asia. But the reality is always more complex: the new Tesla factory in Europe, which should open this year, could create more than 40,000 jobs, without counting on contracts with subcontractors.
The German Ministry of Transport has not yet confirmed the sums allocated, nor the names of the companies selected. But in the lot, you can already bet on the presence of one or more major German automotive groups.
