One year after its marketing, the Taycan electric arrives in an entry -level version, driven by its only rear wheels and contenting itself with 408 hp, or even 476 hp if you have opted for large batteries. At less than 100,000 €, she would pass for a good deal in front of her sisters ... But what really is it?

IN SHORT
Simplified Taycan
Autonomy brought to 484 km
From 86,254 €
Porsche ended up understanding how much 911 is a martingale, and from the boxster, only develops models that recall it, either technically or aesthetically. This is the case of the Taycan, with 100 % electric mechanics but with the look reminiscent of the Zuffenhausen Berlinette. The manufacturer wondered what could appeal to 911 owners wishing a larger but electric but always very efficient car, and designed this sedan.Smaller than the Panamera, it ended up supplanting it with its sales, at least in France: out of the 20,015 sold in the world in 2020, 527 were delivered to us, against a maximum planned at 500. Nice score! And yet, only the Huppée 4S, Turbo and Turbo S declination, with 4 -wheel drive, were so far offered, the average customer price located at € 158,000.
La plus autonome des TaycanHere is the Taycan Propulsion, which is satisfied with 326 hp, power brought to 408 hp with the "overboost" function, for a torque of 345 nm. This, with the lithium-ion battery of 79.2 kWh, which provides aAutonomy of 431 km.In addition (€ 5,772), the performance accumulator more than 93.4 kWh brings the range of action to 484 km, and the cavalry figures at 380 hp and 476 hp respectively, the torque stands at 357 Nm.The electric motor, located at the rear, remains the EM 245/130 of the 4S, and always mates a two -speed gearbox. This Taycan accepts very large charging powers: 225 kW with the small battery, 270 kW with the large, which allows, optimally, to fill them from 5 % to 80 % in 22.5 min.Concretely, in 5 min, we earn 100 km, according to Porsche. At home, on a classic socket, this time will exceed 40 hours ...
The weight remains high, 2,050 kg in 79.9 kWh and 2,130 kg in 93.4 kWh, which explains why the performance is in the row.The maximum speed is 230 km/h and the 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 s, for both versions, the most powerful crossing the 400 m in 13.5 s, just 2 ''less than the other. On the chassis side, the pneumatic suspension and the rear steering wheels pass through the list of options, but the Taycan keeps the piloted damping, as well as the front brake calipers with 6 pistons. Our test model benefits from the Performance Plus battery, which should represent the vast majority of sales in this version of the Taycan.
Toujours plaisante sur routeExternally, nothing distinguishes it from others ... either inside either. The finish remains remarkable and the ergonomics reasonably abstructs given the digital monstrosities that have been bringing out for a few years.Porsche got well -housed to hide the start button behind the steering wheel, on the left (way 911), but the instrumentation has the merit of clarity, while the control of the cruise control remains classic, lever. The interior is functional, and the rear seats quite usable by two adults. We also appreciate the 407 L rear trunk (84 l for the front) combined with a two -part folding bench.
Les places arrière peuvent accueillir deux adultes sans problème. Pas de hayon, dommage...I start from Reims in comfort mode, the Taycan is very comfortable in town, thanks to its good visibility before and its bulging wings which allow it to be well located. We don't hear anything or almost, we are perfectly installed, everything we touch is pleasant ... It's premium. On the road, of course, we do not find the violence of the acceleration of the Turbo S. But the "propulsion" remains very lively, enough in any case to provide pleasure. In Sport and Sport +modes, the few hidden cash movements disappear, the car being more sharp, without degrading its excellent comfort.
We sometimes feel the box change reports, and overall, the car informs what it does.Precise and consistent direction, firm enough pedals, so you feel confident to attack in tight turns. The grip is remarkable, just like the balance (thank you to the battery which lowers the center of gravity), the motor skills difficult to default, in short, the dynamic driving only reserves good surprises, especially that the braking is very powerful.
On the highway, the atmosphere turns out to be relaxing, while the Innovrive system, a € 3,096 trinket which completes the cruise control, bluff by its effectiveness: the car anticipates speed limitation falls, slows down before circles-Points, stops at stops ... Another useful function: when you follow a vehicle, just put the indicator on the left (using a lever, a very simple operation that I signal for the attention of the thousandsOf people who seem to ignore its existence), and if the conditions are met, the Taycan performs the overtaking maneuver without human intervention.
Née pour la gaudrioleWe were also able to test the car on a wet track, to carry out drift, fun but useless exercise (and prohibited on open road) to which it lends itself very healthy, especially since its completely disconnectable ESP masks any possible defect in theframe.A little angle, a good accelerator, the Porsche survives, then it is controlled by counterbraising and putting gas regularly (if you can say, with an electric). We quickly take it.We also pushed it to its limits on a dry track: the Taycan Propulsion is a real Porsche, effective, precise, predictable and never trackless (unlike the 911 sometimes).By reconnecting the ESP, the Taycan does not show perfectly stable, even if it is caused by a large acceleration in support on the wet.
Last point, consumption. On the highway, table on 24 kWh/100 km by 22 ° C ambient, and on the road, 19 kWh, which is very reasonable given the power available. In short, you can easily exceed 300 km at 130 km/h between two refills without making white hair, and 400 km in mixed use.We stopped at an Ionity station and in 16 min, we recharged the battery from 50 to 80 %.It's starting to become viable, electricity!
