The famous Matchboxes, these miniature cars, are making their revolution. The manufacturer announces the use of durable materials in new models, which will become more democratic.
Can the car make its ecological transition without the "small" car making it? Obviously, the subject of sustainable development also touches on the leisure sectors associated with the car. The manufacturer Matchbox, which specialises in the manufacture of plastic miniature cars, announces a series of models using almost 100% recycled materials.
Matchbox follows the trend with a first series of cars using recycled zinc and plastic. Only a small percent of steel required for some parts is not recycled. The packaging, too, is "eco-friendly" since it no longer contains plastic: it is made of wood fibres and paper.
And Matchbox went all the way: the first miniatures with recycled materials are "green" cars. BMW i3 and i8, Nissan leaf, Toyota Prius or Tesla Roadster will be the first series to be launched in these special materials and packaging. Matchbox points out that the other series will follow in the future to adopt these manufacturing procedures.
Le support en mousse peut aller au composte.Starting in 2030, Matchbox plans to use only durable and recycled materials for its products and packaging. Remember that the company is owned by the American toy giant Mattel, who also owns, among other things, hot wheels.
