The most luxurious car in the entire Mercedes group is gradually being renewed. The Mercedes-Maybach S680 passes on the new generation W223, but keeps the V12, which is now exclusive to it.
If Mercedes confirmed the death of the V12 in its catalog, there was in fact a small nuance: the V12 disappears from Mercedes (it still existed recently on the S65 AMG), but not from Maybach. The luxury manufacturer, now an integral part of the star, renews its limousine on the W223 generation of the S-Class.
The platform is known, as are the technologies, but more than the content, it is above all the form that changes.
The list of amenities and amenities should be as long as your arm. Already, on the V8 version unveiled at the end of last year, the abundance of technology was impressive. Here is an obviously far from exhaustive list of what customers will be entitled to:
This S680 follows on from the S650, which was already a sort of vestige of the twelve-cylinder. The M275 block, whose origins date back to the 90s and the atmospheric version. For the moment, Mercedes does not give any technical details on this car which is only entitled to photos, without press release, at the time of writing these lines. One thing is already certain, however: it should be reserved for certain markets such as America, but also and above all China, which is now Maybach's leading global market. On the S-Class alone (not counting the GLS), Maybach sold nearly 700 vehicles per month in China in 2019. Simply exceptional for such a car.
