In Eure-et-Loire, a policeman had changed the values of the blood alcohol controls of a large number of motorists to improve his statistics and win a promotion. Surprised by his colleagues, he was sentenced to one year in prison.
There was the policeman who was a little too nice, here is the policeman who was a little too zealous. Imagine the disappointment that some perfectly sober, or almost sober, road users must have experienced when they found this soldier on their way. The story, told by our colleagues from the Echo Républicain, dates back to the summer of 2020. This 52-year-old policeman, assigned to the control of motorists, changed the alcohol level values of many road users on the road. minutes.
There was in particular this 78-year-old motorist controlled at 0.09 mg / L of air, but who unfortunately did not take a look at what the machine was displaying. The policeman will finally register 0.47 mg / L on the report, causing the unfortunate driver to lose his driving license. The lawyer for the person concerned took the opportunity to specify that the suspension led to the isolation of the man for many months.
The gendarme was surprised by his colleagues who denounced him. He was sentenced to one year in prison, while he recently retired. He should serve his sentence at home with an electronic bracelet. The gendarme, who admits to being "ashamed", nevertheless explained that he had been under pressure from the hierarchy. He also pointed to his exasperation with motorists: "they no longer have respect for the uniform and often minimize their faults".
All motorists checked by this policeman will have their penalties canceled and will recover all of their points.
