The very powerful personnel chief of Volkswagen, Bernd Osterloh, leaves his post. It is Daniela Cavallo, 46, who replaces him. A change that is synonymous with clear skies for the CEO of the Volkswagen group.
Since his arrival at the head of the Volkswagen group, Herbert Diess has had great desire for change. The one who has been advocating electric mobility for a long time (he was notably behind the i3 project at BMW) has been the major player in the revival of Volkswagen's image since dieselgate and the group's transition to electric mobility, with dozens of billions of euros.
But shaking up an entity as big as Volkswagen, a colossus of the most conservative, was not easy. Diess has often clashed with Bernd Osterloh, the all-powerful staff representative and chairman of the works council, who defends the groups of employees within the decision-making office. Suffice to say that he did not always look favorably on the brutal and somewhat innovative methods of Herbert Diess.
Osterloh is going to take control of Traton, Volkswagen's heavy goods vehicle subsidiary. He will be replaced by Daniela Cavallo, 46, who was his assistant. A woman co-managing one of the largest automotive groups and one of the behemoths of German industry, this is yet another sign of change within the VW Group.
