Uber has signed a partnership with Hyundai allowing VTC drivers on the platform to benefit from preferential rates on Korean electric models.
Uber is starting its green revolution as the automotive industry is doing. The American company indeed announced a few days ago that it wanted to become a "zero emission" platform by 2030. An initiative that made the competition react, since the VTC specialist, Free Now, also confirmed that it wanted to switch to an emission-free fleet.
To achieve this, however, it will be necessary to convince the drivers (who are not employees, let us remember) to opt for electric vehicles. Since a large part of the races of the VTC are done in the big cities, the autonomy should not be a big problem if the drivers choose models equipped with sufficient batteries.
And precisely, Uber has signed a partnership with Hyundai which will allow drivers to buy electric vehicles from the brand at preferential rates. For Hyundai, this agreement is very interesting since it could allow the brand to register a greater number of zero-emission vehicles in France and lower its CO2 average. And for Uber, it's excellent for the image, even if the giant will have little choice anyway: in the medium term, vehicles with combustion engines will probably be banned from big cities.
