The Volkswagen Polo will receive a late restyling which may well not be enough in the face of freshly renewed and very electrified competition.
The situation is unprecedented within the Volkswagen group. Indeed, the segment of versatile city cars, made up of Seat Ibiza, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia, is starting to lag behind in ignition. The Ibiza has just been restyled, but nothing changes under the hood, and its German cousin will logically take the same path. Only the Fabia, which will be completely renewed, could really gain real mechanical evolutions. It's light, while the competition goes to hybridization, even to electric.
In the meantime, the Polo will be entitled to its restyling, which will be presented in the coming days. Here is a first image with the front face which seems to evolve little. The biggest aesthetic changes should be at the rear, according to what we have seen on recent prototypes slightly camouflaged.
The Polo should not adopt heavy hybridization. The German will barely be entitled to microhybridization, but given what happened recently on the Ibiza, nothing is less certain. The restyling would then be limited to technological developments. The Polo GTI, meanwhile, left the ship in 2020, remember.
