For now, Volkswagen is focusing on consumer electric models. But the German brand does not forget the pleasure. It announces today the new GTX line which will be incorporated within the ID family.
With the promised avalanche of electric vehicles at Volkswagen, should we be worried about the possible disappearance of the GTI and other Golf R? Electric obviously does not mean stopping sport for the German brand which officially confirms today the name GTX, dedicated to the sports electric models of the ID range.
On April 28, Volkswagen will also unveil the very first: it will be the ID.4 GTX. The X "bridges the mobility of the future" for Volkswagen which specifies that "durability and sportiness are not mutually exclusive, but completely intelligently".
For now, Volkswagen is giving few details, but the brand specifies that the GTX will be “similar to the GTI and GTE”. This ID.4 GTX will be entitled to an additional electric motor on the front axle, with a specific "Traction" mode which will activate this second motor permanently, acting as a differential lock on a four-wheel drive.
The ID.4 GTX should be quickly followed by other models thereafter, since Volkswagen is talking about a new family.
