Driver's license, information related to a financial loan, 3.3 million customer data leaked from a Volkswagen supplier in the United States.
The theme of safety in the automobile is still very little discussed, but it is becoming more and more important. Firstly because cars are more and more connected, but also because data piracy is more and more frequent, especially in large companies.
Volkswagen is currently paying the price in the United States, where one of its suppliers (who has not been named) has been hacked. A file that apparently contained more than 3 million customer data accumulated between 2014 and 2019 has leaked.
“We recently discovered that an unauthorized third party had obtained personal information about customers and potential customers from a vendor used by Audi, Volkswagen and certain dealerships in the United States and Canada for sales and marketing activities. in line".
Of these 3 million, a very large part of the leak concerns so-called "insensitive" data (email address, telephone). But another minority part is more worrying: driver's license, information related to vehicle financing... identity theft in these cases is much more likely.
