XL version of the ID.4, the Volkswagen ID.6 is currently reserved for China.
Construction of Volkswagen's new electric family continues. A few weeks after the arrival of the ID.4 in dealerships, here is its big brother, the ID.6 (the ID.5 will be the coupé version of the 4). This family SUV will first be reserved for China. It also made its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show.
However, it is not an ID.6 that we discover, but two. The brand has indeed unveiled the ID.6 X and the ID.6 Crozz. The explanation? There is one for each joint venture of VW with a local firm (condition which was mandatory to set up in China). The X is made with SAIC, the Crozz with FAW. Both variants have aesthetic differences in terms of optics, tailgate or shields.
But in both cases, we find ourselves in front of a big ID.4, with a silhouette however more cubic, which makes it possible to fit a third row of seats. This is indeed the whole point of the ID.6: having up to seven seats. The ID.6 is 4.88 meters long, 30 centimeters longer than the ID.4. It benefits from a giant wheelbase of 2.97 meters.
Unsurprisingly, the basis is the MEB, Volkswagen's new electric model platform. Several technical configurations are on the menu, with powers of 180, 204 and 306 hp. On the battery side, it will be 58 and 77 kWh, the latter giving a range of around 500 km.
