Men and women do not have the same serious injuries and mortality on the road, but this could be explained by the simple choice of the vehicle.
The American Road Safety Institute, the IIHS, carried out a long study between 1998 and 2015 on road mortality and the difference man/woman.Yes, they exist well, and against women: they have 20 to 28 % more mortality rate than men, and at least 37 % more likely to be seriously injured. If the latter are generally more fatal accidents in absolute value, accidents in women are more frequently fatal than in men than in men.
To this, two main reasons: the first is that women more often lead to small city cars than men, who are in larger vehicles. It is a shortcut that could be described as easy, but it is the reality of statistics from the IIHS, and in the event of a serious accident, the higher and heavier vehicle risk in general than the small car.
The second reason is just as basic: men lead more than women, and they therefore tend to be more often the cause of a serious accident. As the IIHS recalls, in the event of an accident, it is often the occupants of the "struck" vehicle that suffer the most damage.
Concretely, the IIHS tends to demonstrate that if the mortality rate of women on the road is higher, it is above all the consequence of profiles of different motorists between man and woman.
